Maca

Maca is a root vegetable native to Peru. It’s been used for thousands of years as a functional food source. Meaning, apart from providing nutritional sustenance it also provides numerous health benefits. The Incas used it as an energizer and aphrodisiac for themselves as well as their livestock.

Maca is an adaptogen. It helps to build up the bodies endurance and adaptability to fatigue and stress-inducing situation. The plant metabolites provide the root with its antioxidant, free-radical fighting and anti-fatigue benefits. It has also been shown to improve sleep quality in women.

Being a mom requires a lot of multitasking and running around to keep up with the kids as well as work and personal life. It can also mean an increase in stress and a decrease in good quality sleep and fatigue. Maca can help you address all these areas. Studies have shown that maca supplementation can aid in promoting better sleep. Chlorophyll

Another great superfood for busy moms is Chlorophyll. Chlorophyll is the compound that makes plants and algae green. It is necessary for photosynthesis to occur, which provides plants with energy from sunlight. This superfood is a potent antioxidant.  It has been shown to display chemoprotection properties on certain animals

It also aids in boosting the metabolism of carbohydrates, lipids, and protein. Chlorophyll also stimulates liver function and increases the secretion of bile, which is essential for the digestion and the assimilation of nutrients. The liver handles detoxification, the conversion of energy and nutrients, and aids in supporting your immune system. When your liver is overworked, our immune system and digestion can be impaired.

This can occur when we consume a poor diet high in processed foods, alcohol and sugar or are under a great deal of stress. Being a busy mom, self-care is often the last thing on your to-do list. You may remember to eat but not the healthiest things. Or perhaps you haven’t had time to reduce stress and allow your body to calm down and restore.

Adding chlorophyll into your diet is simple, a few drops into your water bottle and you are set. Apart from benefiting the liver and digestion it also aids in alkalinizing the body. When your body is highly acidic, it is more inclined to experience inflammation, joint pain and a general feeling of being unwell. It contains a water-soluble derivative, that is easily absorbed by the digestive tract, known as chlorophyll-in. This chlorophyll derivative is the compound that is found in chlorophyll natural health products.
