Pros & Cons Of Part-Time Jobs

Getting a part-time job is a no brainer for moms. Here are some of the advantages of working part-time jobs:

  • Working part-time allows you to make time for your family instead of being committed to a 40-hour workweek.
  • The flexible hours of part-time jobs allow mothers to plan their day around their family's schedules. This, in turn, helps them in being available for their kid's dance recitals or soccer games and also avoiding to find babysitters or daycare.
  • It lets you explore a career path, in case you want to take it up full time somewhere in the future.

On the flip side, there are also some cons to part-time jobs:

  • Part-time jobs usually don't come with employee benefits, such as health insurance or paid time off for sick days or vacations.
  • Some jobs might ask you to work on weekends sometimes.
  • Busy times of the year might demand more work hours from you.

Lastly, just remember to not get too caught up in the decision-making process. Choose whatever works best for you. It is good to ask a few people before reaching a conclusion but not if it is only confusing you more. What works for one person might not work for you and vice versa. The time with your family and kids is precious so make memories and live to the fullest!
