5 Sure-Fire Ways to Improve Your Fitness in 2019

If you find yourself out of breath after merely walking up a flight of stairs, you’re not alone. The unfit population is as large, if not larger, then the masses of the fit. It makes for some reasonably scary health statistics. However, if you’re looking to walk up those stairs, rather than crawl, then it might be time to improve your fitness. Here’s how to do it:

Get a Professional Helping Hand

It’s okay not to know what you’re doing – apart from realizing that you want to get fit. That’s what a professional personal trainer is there for. If you’re going to learn what changes you need to make, the exercises you need to do and get as much encouragement as you require, then a trainer can be the very person to provide all that. What’s more, they can be your motivation when you lack it for yourself.

Join A Fitness Group

A personal trainer is an excellent option for helping you to achieve your fitness goals, but one-on-one training is not for everyone. Instead, you can draw upon the experience of that same personal trainer, but in a fitness group session. Not only can you have fun, work out, and be social, but you can end up losing more weight and getting fitter as a result. Several robust studies conclude that group fitness can improve your weight loss and fitness outcomes.

Work Out with a Friend

When you get home from a long, hard day at the office, the last thing you often feel like doing is putting on sneakers and pounding the pavement. The bag of cookies in the cupboard and the movie on the TV can sometimes be too strong of a lure to ignore. However, what about the friend you’re supposed to be walking with at 6 pm? You can’t leave them hanging. Therefore, you put the cookies back, put your sneakers on, and hit the road. Working out with a friend puts an obligation on you that you can’t put on yourself if you were trying to get fit on your own.

Include it In Your Daily Life

Work and careers are taking over our lives, which leaves little time for physical activity and opportunities to get fit. However, what if you could merge the two? Every day, vow to take the stairs instead of the lift. The first day may leave you breathless. But what about after a month, how do you feel then? Then, you can do other things like swapping lunchtime book reading for a walk in the park or the block. Make that choice rather than sit at your desk with a chocolate bar.

Buy New Clothing

The market for new workout clothing is growing by the day, with more and more beautiful options available to help you look good while you sweat. If you lack the motivation to get out and get fit, then it might be time to invest in new activewear. Recent research with 2,000 participants showed that nine out of ten people feel more motivated when they put on their activewear.

Final thoughts

Getting fit doesn’t happen overnight. It also doesn’t happen as soon as you say “I want to get fit.” It takes hard work, motivation, and determination to succeed. Fortunately, those things are entirely achievable. Hire a personal trainer, join a group, tag along with a friend, and buy new clothing while incorporating exercise into your everyday life. Before long, you will be leaping up those stairs in your office three at a time.
