It would be great to keep your children busy on Thanksgiving.
Right?
Set a craft table aside, and demonstrate for them how to start holiday crafting. Does that sound like a fun activity?
Oh yes! Says the kids.
And that will also give you time to bond with them, as you also learn interesting things from them. It’s an activity that helps the young mind develop their motor skills. When they cut and attach the photos, it takes determination, focus, and discipline.
Don’t you think they deserve Thanksgiving gift ideasThanksgiving gift ideas? A little reward would be befitting. Now let’s put them on the table and boost their creativity with ten easy craft ideas:
1. Turkey Letters
The essence of Thanksgiving is showing gratitude for the bountiful harvest. This can be a fun way to teach your child how to write their name AND get a cute Thanksgiving decoration out of it!
2. Turkey it is
One of the holiday art activities the kids will find interesting is how to create a colorful turkey. Anyway, most of the materials required you probably have them in your house-some cardboard, colorful feathers, clothespins, pencil, scissors, and craft papers. After you get all your materials and have cut them in the right shapes like a beak and waddle, get to work. Put glue on the cardboard and start attaching your feathers, and everything else follows.
3. Cinnamon scented pinecones
When you think of cinnamon’s benefits other than the heavenly scent that fills your house, you will embrace this craft. It helps to relax sore muscles, increases your concentration level, and even relieves headaches. You may decide to buy your pinecones to make the process easier and faster.
Get the cinnamon essential oil spray, add 20 drops to 1/8 cup and create a solution. Now put the pinecones in a resealable plastic bag. Spray your pinecones with the solution and shake to distribute the fragrance evenly. Seal and leave the scent to infuse fully, for about four weeks.
N/B: As Christmas is only days away, you can also save them for the coming holiday. However, ensure to spray them two weeks before the festivity.
4. Paper gratitude pumpkin
It’s the perfect time to remember and write down what you are thankful for from your creator on this seasonal holiday. As you create this pumpkin with your tots, you will also show them the virtue of gratitude. The moment makes it an excellent time to create and give their friends and family Thanksgiving gift ideas.
5. Flint corn
Art is merely fantastic. You can make anything you think of if you put your mind to it. To make this beautiful Indian corn, you will need; craft paper, Crayola Model Magic in white, cardstock, glue stick, and paint. Use the glue stick to sketch a corn shape on the card stock. Now cut medium strips from the brown paper to make corn husks. And start creating kernels from the Model by rolling small balls. A time to play with color has come, and you don’t need to wait for the Model to dry. Even when it’s still moist, it’s okay to paint.
6. Leaf lanterns
After you hear how Susan did this beautiful project, you will also want to try it. You will need; pressed autumn leaves, wax paper, a cylindrical container, scissors, cardstock in red or orange, a hot glue gun, pipe cleaner, and tea-light candles (LED preferably). Now cut the wax paper into two, each measuring width of 18.5″. Then place your leaves on top of one form and onto an ironing board. The other piece of paper on top of the leaves takes your iron on the lowest setting and gently presses it on the top. Attach your cut-colored cardboard strips on the edges of the wax paper with the hot glue gun. And now, you can fix your waxed paper around your container.
Use a hole punch and make holes and insert a string or wire to hang. Get your tea-light candles inside, and enjoy the luminaries. It is delightful to see some light through the fall leaves, which makes them so alive.
7. Fall candle
If you and your bundle of joy don’t have much time for DIY, and you still want to add some personal touch, here’s a quick craft. You can get pillar candles in different heights and spruce them. Get some silk fall leaves, a burlap thick ribbon, and glue them on the candles. Then use the twin string to tie and make a bow. Now you have a lovely centerpiece. You can use this beautiful DIY as a Thanksgiving gift for a loved one.
8. Pretty paper-cut turkey
The young kids in the kindergarten will have a blast as they cut beautiful papers into thin strips. And if you can’t get them, use white ones and color. Drawing is the easiest that any kid can learn. Guide them with the staples as you attach the papers-super-fast and fun craft.
9. Turkey cupcakes
Cooking is an art that you can introduce to your young ones, and show them how fun it can be. It is an activity they will adore. The first thing is to bake cupcakes, then use pretzels, candy corns, and any other creative goods to decorate them. It is an easy must-try art that everyone should give it a go during the holidays. It makes a lovely dessert for Thanksgiving.
10. Simple Thanksgiving garlands
Find an old red fabric that you won’t mind shredding. Then use card stock since it’s durable to make the patterns. Draw and cut some leaf shapes, as shown above. A yard of burlap should be lovely to go to the background, but you need to cut it into the same forms to match your garland of cut letters. Get some glue to attach your cut-out letters and patterns on the red squared piece of cloth. Now string them and hang.
In conclusion
You will realize that all the thanksgiving gift ideas do not require any special tools. These thanksgiving gift ideas just contain affordable materials that anyone can find and get crafty. It’s the best way to teach children how to make a Thanksgiving gift for their best friend. Oh, don’t you love the experience of accomplishing superb art? Read some Thanksgiving picture books with the family! It’s a fulfillment that you and your tots will love to do this Thanksgiving season.

While I’m located in Jamaica and we don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, I really love these crafts ideas. I sometimes find it a struggle not giving my son screentime while I have to work. Once I’m in ‘work mode’ it’s hard to get out of it. I love how simple these crafts are because as a 6-year old, he can do a few by himself. Thanks for the creativity!
glad we could help!
