5 Career Choices for Creative Moms

It’s no secret there are lots of career options for moms that have school-age children and want to get back into having a part-time or full-time career. You’re probably reading this because it’s something which interests you, and you also have a creative side to your skills.

The thing is, if you’re looking for a new career that makes use of your creative skills, and you want something that pays well, what should you consider doing? To give you some inspiration, take a look at the following examples for a few career choice ideas:

If you’re looking for new career choices that makes use of your creative skills, and you want something that pays well, read on.

1. Graphic Design

Do you have a knack for creative illustration and design? If so, and you’re good with using software titles like Adobe Illustrator, it could make sense to pursue a career in graphic design.

It’s a job you can do for an agency or, if you prefer to work from home under your own terms, you could work as a freelance graphic designer. You’ll always find work as a graphic designer, so you’ll never find a shortage of job opportunities.

2. Building Information Modeling

If you enjoy technology, construction, and creative design, did you know you could combine those three passions for your future career choice? Building information modeling (BIM) involves designing mechanical, electrical, and construction models.

You would typically create models using CAD software, plus you may also take advantage of technologies like augmented reality, 360-degree drone photography, and much more. In short, it’s the perfect job if you enjoy technical design with a creative twist.

Keep in mind that some BIM jobs require people to have a construction management degree or a similar qualification.

3. Illustration

Of course, technical drawing and design aren’t for everyone, and neither is graphic design. What if illustration is more your field of expertise? Don’t fret because there are also career possibilities for people that have illustration skills.

You could produce illustrations on paper or using a computer tablet and work for companies such as book publishers, jewelry designers, or even work as a freelance illustrator for clients across the globe. What’s more, illustration is technically a job you could do from home.

4. Interior Design

Do you have an eye for creating beautiful homes? Plus, are you interested in helping people create the living spaces of their dreams? If the answer to both questions is yes, you should consider forging a career in interior design.

As you might expect, an interior designer spends much of their time turning lackluster interior spaces into something truly remarkable. Interior designers also work with architects and builders to help homeowners achieve their interior styling goals.

5. Landscape Gardening

One final career choice to consider is landscape gardening. It’s an ideal option if you enjoy spending much of your time outdoors and have an intimate knowledge of flowers, plants, shrubs, and how to make a garden look beautiful.

You could work as part of a team of landscapers, or you might prefer to work on a freelance basis. In either case, you’ll have plenty of creative freedom to help your clients end up with outdoor spaces that they will love.
