How Drive-Thru Pharmacies Have Changed My Life as a Mom

Having children make everything difficult, but having a sick child, makes life 100 times harder. Living in Washington State, I really began to embrace drive-thru pharmacies in our area, especially because of my daughter. Being able to drive up and get any medicine the doctor had called in made everyone’s lives so much easier. If it’s something you have not tried yet, add it to your list of things that you need to try out.

Recently this past winter, my daughter was an extremely sick toddler with a fever, runny nose, aches, pains, tummy ache, and throwing up. She had it all. This went on for two whole weeks. We were convinced it was the flu, but her doctor and hospital said it was a viral sinus cold. The first time we brought her to the hospital in the middle of the night from bad stomach pains, we thought something was very wrong. They assured us that she was okay and that it was just a viral infection taking its course. They prescribed her an antibiotic to try to help push it out and it was still about 3:30 am when we left.

Now our Walgreens pharmacy is open 24/7, so the hospital called it into the pharmacy for us and we took our time to drive there on the way back home. My daughter was super tired and still not feeling wonderful at all in the back seat and we needed to get this antibiotic right that moment -there was no time to wait until the morning. Being that our Walgreens is a drive thru, we were incredibly lucky that we did not have to get out of the car to go into the store at 3:30 in the morning, take my daughter out in the cold to go inside a store and get her medicine. You just don’t realize how amazing a drive-thru pharmacy is until you have a really sick kiddo and its 3am. It was a life changing moment for me and my husband.

Why was going to a drive-thru pharmacy life changing?

  • You don’t have to get out of the car with a sick child. This is so incredibly important, no matter how sick or the time of day. Being able to stay in the car instead of waiting on line instead with children, especially sick ones, it makes everything more doable when handling sick children.

  • There is no wait time. You are able to call in your prescription and then pick it up at the time it is ready. You do not have to drop off the prescription and then wait inside the building. Calling in and then driving to the window, makes receiving medicine for sick family members even easier.

  • If you have questions, the pharmacist will still answer them. Some think that if they go to the drive-thru pharmacy that they will not be able to speak with the pharmacist. That is not true. They will come over to the window and speak with you if you have any questions or concerns.

  • They understood me. They knew that my daughter was extremely sick based on the medicine that we were getting and when handing me the medicine through the window, they told me exactly what I needed to know about the medicine so that I could be on my way quickly.

On your next trip to the pharmacy, try out the drive-thru and determine for yourself how amazing the experience really is. Don’t forget to use this coupon code for Epiduo: epiduo coupon 2018.
