Blogger

Many people think that blogging is only for writers, but the fact is that the ‘writing’ part is just the tip of the iceberg. Although the number of hours and content creation can be daunting, blogging is a great side hustle for many moms. If you’re a parent and you have a hobby or interest that can be monetized — creating a blog can be an easy way to make some extra cash. You’ll need to think about hosting your blog, finding topics that people are interested in reading about, and promoting your site so that people can find it — but with those challenges met, blogging can be a great way to earn some extra money — especially if you’re passionate about a particular subject.

Gift Wrapping Service

If you love to gift wrap — why not get paid for it? There are plenty of companies and people who would be happy to have their gifts wrapped up by a professional — especially during the holiday season when time is of the essence. You can create a free listing on sites like TaskRabbit or Upwork to find clients in your area, or you can also create a free account on Wrapify, which allows you to gift wrap and keep all the money. This can be a great way to earn a little extra money and get some target practice before your kids open their gifts!

Freelance Writing

If you have a knack for writing, this could be a great side hustle for you. Writing for blogs and websites is a common way for bloggers to make money. However, writing for other publications and websites could also be a great way to make some extra cash — especially if you have an area of expertise or interest. If you decide to become a freelance writer, you’ll want to check out sites like Upwork or Problogger to ensure you’re setting yourself up for success. You’ll also want to check out your local laws to ensure you’re not violating copyright laws or putting yourself in danger.

Becoming a Tasker

If you’re always looking for new ways to make money — you may have heard of TaskRabbit. This site is meant for people looking for help with very particular tasks that they don’t have time for. For example, maybe you’re a parent who works full-time and needs help with housework, or you work on a team that needs an extra pair of hands during crunch time — there are plenty of opportunities on TaskRabbit to earn money as a Tasker. Unlike being an employee, Taskers are paid per task, giving you a lot of freedom in terms of how much work you want to accept and how much you want to charge. You can choose the tasks that you’re qualified to do and accept bids that other users have posted.

Virtual Assistant

If you want to earn money through a more traditional form of employment — you can become a Virtual Assistant. A VA works remotely on administrative tasks that their employer might need but not necessarily have time for. For example, you can help someone with their scheduling, plan their social media posts, answer emails, and do many other administrative tasks that you may have done as a parent. The great thing about becoming a VA is that you can work remotely and on your schedule. This means that you can work around your other responsibilities as a parent and still make good money without sacrificing time with your family.

Transcriptionist

Transcriptionists listen to audio recordings and type out what is said. This is often done for podcasts, interviews, or other audio-based podcasts that have yet to be transcribed. If you enjoy listening to podcasts or audiobooks and have a good typing speed — you can make money by transcribing the recordings. You can find transcriptionist jobs online on sites like Upwork or Flexjobs. Many of these transcriptionist jobs will pay per minute of audio recorded, so they can be a great fit for parents or anyone else who wants to earn some money while doing something that doesn’t require a lot of concentration.

Sell Educational Resources

If you have kids or work with kids and you’re an expert in a particular subject — you can use your experience to create educational resources that other parents can purchase. For example, if you have a child with a learning disability, you might have found that specific techniques work well to help them succeed in school. You can turn those techniques into a paid product that other parents can purchase. You can sell teacher resources through various platforms like Amazon or your website.

Become a Tester and Reviewer

If you have kids and get invited to their birthday parties or other events where you have to bring a gift — what do you do when you have to pick something out? Do you ever wish you could pick something that isn’t generic and doesn’t scream, “I don’t know their age or even if they’re a boy or girl?” You can solve this problem by becoming a toy tester and reviewer for companies specializing in unique children’s gifts. Several companies will send you toys to test and review. After you’ve tried out the toy and given your thoughts, you can then recommend the toy to other parents who are in the same pickle you were in before your kid’s birthday.

Online Surveys

Surveys can be an excellent way to earn some extra money while sitting around watching your kids play or do homework. There are many survey sites that you can use to make money by taking surveys online. You can find these survey sites by Googling “online survey sites.” Remember that not all survey sites are legitimate, and some are better than others. You can also sign up for online focus groups. These are a little bit different than online surveys because a group of people may be discussing the product or service you’ve been invited to participate in. You’re not just answering one question and being done. You’re involved in a discussion about the product or service.

Dropshipping

Dropshipping is a method of making money by offering products that you don’t have in your possession. The idea behind dropshipping is that you find a product that sells well and is in demand. You then find a supplier who will sell that product at a wholesale price and ship it directly to your customer. Your profit is the difference between what you pay for the item and what you charge your customer. Once you’ve found a product you want to sell and a supplier who will sell it to you at a wholesale price, you’ll need to create a website where customers can purchase the product you’re selling.
