With the world seemingly becoming more and more dangerous, you may not feel as safe in your home as you once did. Keep A Gun

To feel safe in your home, one of the best choices you can make is to have a gun in the home. Though you should hopefully never have to use it, you should take the time to train and learn with a professional on how to use your Freedom Ordnance FX-9 Carbine FX9 AR-15 or other guns that you keep in the home. If your safety is threatened in your home, all you may need to do to scare anyone off is show them the gun.

Having a gun can be an especially good tip if you are a mom who will be home alone to protect your kids. It never hurts for anyone to go through proper gun training and understand how to protect yourself from someone who is a threat. If you choose to have a gun in your home, you will need to make sure it is secure as well. Learn the basics of gun safety and about how to properly store it to prevent accidents and keep your kids safe.

Install Cameras

Another step to take is to install security cameras around and within your home. This is great for working moms who want a little extra security while they are in the office. Some cameras will allow you to sync them to your phone. If something startles you in the middle of the night or you get an alert while at work, a quick search through your cameras on your smartphone is all you need to make sure all is well.

You can check the camera at any time as well to give you some peace of mind. If you have children alone at home, it can definitely give you the reassurance you need. Make a security camera near your front door the biggest priority. Eighty one percent of burglars enter homes through the first floor and 34% enter through the front door.

Doorbell Camera

One other measure of security that you may benefit from is to have a doorbell camera installed on your door. For many people, not knowing who’s at the door can cause a great deal of anxiety. They may look like a delivery driver, but they could also be potentially dangerous. A doorbell camera can help you keep an eye on anyone who visits your door. You can take a good look at them before deciding to open the door.

A doorbell camera can also keep your kids safer while you are at work. If your kids are home alone, you can see who is at the door before they go to answer it. That will allow you to tell them not to open the door if there is someone you don’t recognize. If they do answer the door, you can also continue to keep an eye on the visitor. If you don’t feel with yourself or your kids answering the door, you can answer it through the camera. That can make it appear that you are home or just simply show the person at the door you are aware they are there. If your kids are old enough, you might be able to give them access to the camera through their phone as well.

Lights

Believe it or not, exterior lights can also help you feel safe. You typically tend to feel more afraid in the dark. Lights that illuminate your yard and home can make you feel safer from the threat of the dark. It’s also a deterrent for criminals because they don’t want to be seen breaking into a home. Lights should be fixated on doors and windows to deter criminals from accessing them. Make sure you consider your landscaping when choosing the camera and placement so there won’t be any shrubbery or trees blocking the camera’s view. You may also be able to find lighting you can connect to your phone. That way, if you are working after hours you, you will be able to easily turn your outside lights on while you are away to make it appear you are home.

You deserve to feel safe in your home. These four strategies can not only provide that, but they can also actually make you safer.
