5 Reasons Why Swaddling a Baby is Amazing

When you are a new parent, you have no clue what you are doing. You can only read so many books and blogs and watch so videos and talk to so many people about how to parent a newborn. Until that baby comes, you really have no idea what you’ve gotten yourself into! The worst part is, everything you heard, watched, and talked about may not even work for your baby and you need to discover your own ways to do things.

That being said, when I first had my daughter, not many people recommended swaddling to me, and even less told me about the blankets that help frantic newborn parents like myself put the baby in the swaddle and be able to figure it out the first time! I mean, why had no one told me about this type of blanket?

Watching videos on YouTube of how to swaddle a baby looked so easy! I can assure you they were not. My swaddle in a regular blanket never, ever turned out the way it was supposed to. Then I discovered blankets that were meant  for swaddling and I found The Ollie World, who specialized in swaddle blankets.

Not only is it an amazing blanket, but it also comes in this adorable box that would be a perfect gift for a baby shower. Not only are you providing the best gift that you could give a new parent, but it also comes in this perfectly adorable box.

Not sure how to use a swaddle? Here is an actual helpful video to show you how to use the Ollie World swaddle.

The Story:

The story of the owner behind Ollie World is that she had a foster child named Oliver who was not flourishing like he should be. She noticed that the swaddles that were on the market weren’t keeping him in the swaddle and they weren’t strong enough to hold him inside. With all this, she began to form the Ollie World swaddle to help out Oliver and without even knowing it – tons of other moms across the world. What an amazing story because this discovery that helped this one little boy, made tons of moms all over the world’s lives easier!

The Ollie World Swaddle is made is three different colors as of now – Stone, Lavender and Sky (sold out)

Therapeutic Benefits:

  • Eases the transition from the womb.
  • Decreases irritability while promoting self-soothing.
  • Encourages calming to increase bonding.
  • Enhances quality of sleep to improve rest and cycle regulation.

Why Should You Swaddle?

Using a swaddle with help assist in reducing the Moro reflex as well as maintain supine position. Supine position means laying horizontally with the head and torso facing upwards. It also helps preterm infants (premies) improve their neuromuscular development, have less psychological distress and better self-regulation abilities. With these benefits, infants will sleep better because their bodies are confined like they were in the womb. It makes them feel safe and more comfortable.

Ollie World Swaddle vs. Regular Swaddle Blanket

  • Custom designed moisture-wicking fabric to reduce the risk of overheating.
  • Velcro allows fit to be individualized to meet the need and size of baby.
  • Diaper changes made accessible via opening at the bottom.
  • One-size and promotes ease with transitional stages.

The velcro swaddles were the most important blankets I owned because I knew my daughter would go to sleep in this swaddle blanket and therefore they were like gold!
