Online therapy

Therapy is something that is usually looked as as a negative thing. But what about handling every day stress on top of being a mom, wife and possibly working? Sometimes these things are enough to put you into a depression. Relationships are not easy, raising children is really not easy and when you add in stress with money or family, it can be a lot. Taking the time to talk to a professional can help alleviate some stress.

Self-care is taking care of yourself, therapy can do in so many ways. Unfortunately many moms feel like they don’t have any time to make an appointment to go talk to someone. Online therapy is a great option for moms who feel like this. Not having to leave your house, schedule time and attend the meeting can really help you take advantage of this option.

Take care of yourself physically

Another way to make self-care a top priority this year is to take care of yourself physically. Not only does this mean to workout and eat healthy, this also means your looks. When you feel run down, you look run down. This can really change your attitude towards yourself. Self-care this year can be go cleaning out your closet and going shopping for some staple items to fit in your wardrobe.

This year check out Stitch Fix and schedule some clothing boxes to come throughout the year.  Schedule time to get your hair colored every 2-4 months so it doesn’t look dull. Buying new makeup and adding in a new moisturizers can help your skin with the changing seasons. Have you ever purchased a whitening kit? This might be your year to try it! When whitening your teeth, you can use a whitening gel, desensitizing gel and sensitivity gel. It is recommended to use these every 3-6 months depending on how white you were looking to get your teeth.

Find a diet that works for you

Not every diet is right for everyone. Find the diet that you can stick with for at least 3 months. If you can’t do it every single day, then it’s not for you. Most recently I tried a diet called Optiva. They are affiliated with the diet . I have been working with an amazing coach, Karie Armstrong, how has helped motivate me to stick with the diet every day. It has been hard but it got easier day after day.

“Once I realized that I didn’t want to be in pictures anymore, I knew I had to make a change. I said yes to making healthy changes, and 3 months later, I was able to take my ‘after’ picture!! Linking arms with my health coach, plugging into an amazing community, and getting educated about how to fuel my body well, led me to freedom I hadn’t experienced in a long time!” Karie would be happy to do a health assessment to hear about your goals and see if the program she coaches might be a good fit for you. She is also looking for people who are interested in serving others and looking to make a generous income as a health coach. Please reach out with questions if you have any!!”

Do you often have time to read? Reading gets pushed aside more often when we have children and by the time we get a minute free, sleep sounds more exciting than reading. Try to find some time this year to pick up a reading habit. Another fun way to read is to use Audible. You can listen to Audible on your phone or in the car. This makes it easy to listen to your favorite books even though you don’t have time to curl up with a book.

Start a blog

Although starting a blog is a weird answer for self-care tips, but when you start a blog, you are opening up a piece of yourself. Blogging can help you focus on having an important opinion and sharing it out with others. It can help you increase your communication with others who have like interests as yourself and you will do something that you enjoy. Start a mom blog this year!

Final thoughts

This is going to be your year to take self-care into your hands. Start with one new thing every week and build from there. Remember, the most important part is to take care of yourself and not be stressed. Find the ones that work best for your and start enjoying your time.

  2. I have not tried many diets, but one of my goals this year is to take care of myself– go to the doctor, start eating better and so on

  3. LOVE that online therapy is listed here. I never thought of that as self-care, but now I’ve got something to tell my husband when I’m browsing my favourite stationery store! Perfect!

  4. With the new year I can definitely incorporate these tips into my resolutions! Thank you so much for sharing, this is very important. 🙂

  5. ALL great suggestions, Jennifer! I find that my new year’s goals work best if I break them down into tiny chunks, and have a way to track progress (= in my bullet journal). So far am off to a good start with losing that 30 lbs, in part because I can track my progress on daily micro-goals like watching snacks/stress-eating, getting a good night’s sleep, etc.
